Nostalgia and New are experts in sourcing and supplying antique architectural salvage, artefacts and traditional reclaimed building materials, as well as new replica products.
Whilst the team behind Nostalgia and New have been trading in the business for a number of years, when they approached us they were about to go through a total rebrand, including the name of their business.
The website they had was very dated and did not have a content management system, meaning they could not make changes to the products or general content on the website without incurring additional costs from their website design company.
The site did not have an ecommerce facility and so they weren’t able to sell any of their products directly through the website, and due to the age of the website it was not responsive, making it very difficult to navigate around and use on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets.
The was also poorly optimised for search engines, which was partly due to the age of the site and partly due to the lack of search engine optimisation work that had been carried out on the site.
Initially we came up with a new logo, and by using a combination of modern and old style fonts we were able to represent the combination of the new and old products sold by Nostalgia and New.
The site was designed to combine the many categories from the old website, which helped make navigation so difficult, into a handful of key top level categories which then drilled down to related subcategories.
We developed the website as an ecommerce site, with the option to offer some products for sale online, and others that require customer to enquire about. A quick search facility and dynamic price range filter was added to help visitors find exactly what they’re after form the many hundreds of products listed on the site.
We also developed a very clever ‘Radiator Builder’ system which allows website visitors to build and order brand new, made to order replica cast iron radiators. The system takes visitors quickly and easily through a 7 stage process where they not only build their perfect radiator, but are also offered a number of accessories such as valves, wall stays and sleeving kits.
