Daily internet use has doubled in just four years!By Gareth

A recent Survey carried out by the ‘Office for National Statistics’ showed that in 2010, 30.1 million adults in the UK (60 per cent) accessed the Internet every day or almost every day. This is nearly double the estimate in 2006 of 16.5 million.

Google has recently gone public with a new image compression format known as WebP which claims to cut the current size of images by up to 40 percent.

A Sky News Survey found that more people would opt to cut back on food rather than give up their broadband connection if money became. This gives an indication as to exactly how important the internet has become and shows that for many it has now necessity rather than a luxury.

Intel just in the last week has announced the world’s first silicon based optical data connection that incorporates lasers. Distance is vastly extended over current copper technology as well as allowing greater speeds of 50 gigabits per second. For those who aren’t technically minded, that’s the equivalent of 1 High Definition film being transmitted every second.
