Intel just in the last week has announced the world’s first silicon based optical data connection that incorporates lasers. Distance is vastly extended over current copper technology as well as allowing greater speeds of 50 gigabits per second. For those who aren’t technically minded, that’s the equivalent of 1 High Definition film being transmitted every second.

The higher speed access home users have means that web designers can make more graphic or media rich websites. Whether you’re on a home computer or a mobile phone, speed is extremely important. Japan has just announced that their networks will soon be able to take advantage of 42Mbps HSPA data directly to their phone.
