The grade 1 listed Hertford Castel dates back to the 15th Century and as well as being home to the Hertford Council and the Mayor, can also be hired out for corporate and private events, including weddings.
We are approached by Hertford Council to quote for the design and development of the Castles first every website.
We were provided with a brief which as well as explained that as well as the site being an portal for information about the Castle itself, also highlighted the main objective of the website was to promote the Castle as a venue for weddings, corporate and private hire.
The design was down to us, however whilst it needed to be responsive and with a modern design to appeal to the target market, it was also important to give it a historic feel.
We started the design by giving the coat-of-arms style logo a prominent position in the centre of the man navigation, which immediately gave the design a traditional feel. In keeping with the logo, the further use of dark and light backgrounds throughout the design, together with the use of a carefully chosen font, ensured the concept flowed throughout the rest of the website.
To assist with both the navigation around the website and search engine optimisation, we then created individual pages for each of the main services Hertford Council wanted to promote, providing the ability for them to quickly and easily add promotional copy and image galleries via their bespoke content management system.
Other dedicated pages were created to provide additional information about the Castle such as a history of the castle and historical and visitor information.
