Search Engine Optimisation is the name given to the process carried out to either a new or existing website to enhance the organic listings on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Ask, MSN and AOL.
The better your website is optimised, the greater the chances are that it will be listed on search engines. The higher in the ranking your website is listed, the more visitors your website will receive and the more business you will do.
The optimisation of a website relies heavily on 'key words'. Theses are the words best used to describe your business, the market in which it trades and the location it trades in. The 'key words' for your business will be the words potential customers would type into the search area of a Search Engine in order to find a business offering your products and/or services.
